In addition, though, there are early adopters that are seen as cranks and early adopters that are seen as innovators. Knowing the difference and targeting the innovators is key. If Crazy Jimmy adopts our strategy first, it might actually diminish the chances others will ever adopt it… Bringing credible voices into our research teams helps with this issue too, but it’s still important to ID the specific individuals (or at least characterize them and cater to them in a more general way) who are going to be seen as innovators."Jonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07401406875002489359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3828861446310385465.post-65164431113301048162020-03-04T11:06:21.714-05:002020-03-04T11:06:21.714-05:00Hey Jon - On your third point in this note (variab...Hey Jon - On your third point in this note (variability vs. uncertainty), I'd suggest you add a third category to your mental map: stochasticity. Variation that we can't explain ("uncertainty") may be unexplainable because we simply don't understand the covariates or underlying process; or it may instead be unexplainable variation due to stochasticity that has no hidden covariate that determines it. These are fundamentally different processes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3828861446310385465.post-62188418580544575362019-08-27T09:23:10.450-04:002019-08-27T09:23:10.450-04:00Thanks! A manual power strip would be better, and we use those for the TV etc, but for internet model and router, and crawlspace dehumidifier, we found those too annoying to use. In those cases each device was using 30-40W all the time, and the control devices used a tiny fraction of a watt (don't have the data with me, but very low). Since we keep internet off for about 18-20 hours each day it's a clear win. But using a kill-a-watt meter to evaluate the tradeoffs is always best.Jonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07401406875002489359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3828861446310385465.post-64393249811128423062018-04-19T09:32:32.868-04:002018-04-19T09:32:32.868-04:00Just had a look at your guide with many good sugge...Just had a look at your guide with many good suggestions. I question the suggestion in #4 about installing remotely controlled outlets. In my experience the phantom loads created by those outlets can overwhelm the loads they are intended to control. I definitely noticed a different taste, although it's very subtle. Not particularly better, mind you, although perhaps because I'm so used to how Coke normally tastes, it might have tasted odd to me.

However, if you were to compare Pepsi Throwback to a regular Pepsi, the difference is more significant. Regular Pepsi is sweet, but to the point where it tastes a bit like cough syrup. Pepsi Throwback has a cleaner taste to it.
